OUR MISSION

The Mosaic Initiative combats sex trafficking and exploitation globally through facilitating coalitions, promoting awareness, and the development and distribution of resources.  We partner with organizations, ministries, and individuals involved in the prevention, direct intervention, or rehabilitation of anti-sex trafficking efforts.

The Mosaic Initiative is a young nonprofit organization, while we are in the development stages of our many projects, our team is excited to continue on this journey of making an impact in our global community!

Our passion for this project was born from our desire for God's glory to be shown through serving others, and the weaving together of the body of Christ. We believe learning from each other’s wisdom can greatly benefit all organizations involved. Our heart is to empower each individual/organization in their God-given strengths and giftings and connect them with others to collaborate. By doing so we may increase each of our capacities to better serve those affected by sex trafficking and more effectively fight exploitation. We want to help strengthen organizations that are paving the way and help those following in their footsteps to grow. Our team truly believes this is not just our heart, but also the heart of the Lord.

LOCALLY

  • The Mosaic Initiative is available for speaking engagements for community groups/churches/etc. We believe an empowered and informed community is imperative to fighting trafficking locally and effectively.

As a part of our community awareness initiative we have connected our community to resources with specific expertise.

    - In 2021 we hosted a “Culture of Care” by Rapha International to train local faith communities with the goal of helping prevent sexual abuse in churches.

-Presented trafficking 101 to several community groups such as Rotary Club in Marion, IL & Herrin IL, Herrin Women’s Association, and Republican Women of Williamson County.

-2023 The Mosaic Initiative connected local (Marion) police department with a free training offered by Deliver Fund.

-2023 We presented with Restoration 61 to nursing students and faculty from Southeastern Illinois College and Rend Lake College on human trafficking.

  • Sexual Trauma Therapy (en Español)- This year we are working to launch an initiative to create a safe space for Spanish speaking individuals who have survived sexual abuse/trafficking/exploitation to receive trauma therapy in their native tongue. Funding for the individual to receive this online therapy will be provided for by The Mosaic Initiative through a scholarship program and we plan to have a private space and computer available for use. This endeavor may take 1-2 years to see to launch, but we believe strongly that having this resource in our community will strongly and positively impact Spanish speaking survivors of sexual exploitation and abuse in our community.

INTERNATIONALLY

We have been busy building international partnerships and currently have growing relationships with organizations in 7 countries. Now that restrictions have been lifted for some time and international work is more feasible we look forward to continuing to build these relationships and form formal partnerships.

INDIA

RECOVERY OPERATIONS

In partnership with Transforming Lives Foundation India we are working to free individuals from sex trafficking or “flesh trade” as it is often called in India. This is accomplished through a series of undercover operations and raids. You can read about different raids our partners have conducted in several new articles found here. As a part of these efforts, the team makes a specific effort to ensure arrests are made of those involved with the trafficking the minors. Prosecutable cases are then built against traffickers and purchasers alike. The survivors are either reunited with their families (if the family is uninvolved), or placed in residential therapeutic homes and receive support as they work through healing from their abuse. Each operation cost generally $600-$800 but can vary based on each cases needs.

In the months of May, June, July 2023 in partnership with Transforming Lives foundation we have funded several recovery operations. Due to these operations 7 individuals were recovered from sex trafficking (4 adults and 3 minors) and found placement in rehabilitative care, 1 missing girl was reunited with her family, and 6 offenders (buyers and traffickers) were arrested with strong prosecutable cases built against them.

HUMAN TRAFFICKING DOCUMENTARY

As a part of our partnership with Red Rope International we filmed a documentary covering the realities of anti human trafficking efforts in India. We are currently in the editing phase of production and are excited to have the film available for purchase or large screenings once the documentary is released!

The Documentary served a cross-sector collaborative effort. We are looking forward to sharing the stories and interviews from Survivors, NGOs, Government Officials and Law Enforcement.

RED ROPE MOVEMENT

We are currently building partnerships and collaborative efforts in India with a local anti-trafficking organization called Red Rope Movement. Our long-term goal with Red Rope Movement International is to one day start a vocational training/resource center, as well as a therapeutic residential home for young trafficking survivors in India.

MALAWI

In 2021 & 2022 we worked to help fund several projects (new printer, computer to keep case files, mattresses and curtains for a local Special Victims Unit, a survivors school supplies and fees for a term, etc) and needs of a local anti-trafficking organization called When the Saints.

We look forward to continuing to build our relationship with WTS in the future.
